The State of Delaware erected a giant billboard on I-95 just South of Wilmington to let us all know how many DUI arrests are being made in our little state. When I saw this billboard, I was surprised at the number of DUIs reported. Two thousand three hundred DUI arrests seem very high for such a little place as Delaware. Apparently, though, that is an accurate number. According to the July 12 Checkpoint Strikeforce news report there have been more than 2,400 DUI arrests so far this year.

At that rate, which is about 400 arrests per month, we are looking at almost 5,000 DUI arrests per year. According to google, there are about 907,000 people residing in Delaware. That means that this year, there should be around one DUI arrest for every 181 people.
